Inspiration for a Better World
This workshop, which has been presented at several universities and high schools in the Bay Area, helps students articulate values and cultivate an ongoing spiritual practice that inspires, informs and sustains long-term work for a better world. Attendees learn way to deconstruct cultural and religious contexts, experience exercises in values articulation and discuss ways that spiritual practice supports social change as well as those working for it.
Soul of Work
This program is designed for individuals at various career stages seeking to apply their professional skills and life experience in new ways as agents of positive social change. The program facilitates personal assessment, incorporates spiritual practice and social analysis, and offers opportunities for immersive social change field work to refine and hone a participant’s contribution to social transformation.
This training focuses on how to have empathetic and constructive discussions about difficult topics such as race, mental health, and immigration. We will be partnering with Impact Hub in Berkeley to present this workshop in 2017 and are exploring partnerships with other educational institutions and with tech companies in the Bay Area to host continued discussions.
The Advantages and Limitations of Empathy in Social Innovation
Often people attempt to solve problems without learning from the experiences and cultures of those dealing with these problems on a daily basis. Truly innovative solutions are deeply connected to and emerge from the lived experiences of communities we serve. When connected with analysis and a broader ethical system, empathy is a critical skill that can help bridge this gap. Empathy is a crucial skill in meaning making and envisioning new pathways to social justice. This training will feature experiential exercises on empathy cultivation and explore the connections between spirituality and empathy.
